Woman meditating in center of green light; titled Intuition in Business

Intuition in Business

Come from the heart, the true heart, not the head. When in doubt, choose the heart. This does not mean to deny your own experiences and that which you have empirically learned through the years. It means to trust yourself to integrate intuition and experience. – Brian L. Weiss

Intuition is probably the least talked about side of business.

At a recent networking event for entrepreneurs, they asked us a very interesting question: When was the last time you used your intuition?

In our breakout room, we all agreed it was a good question, but most people had to think about it for a minute. Since my work is highly intuitive, I use my intuition all the time, but as applied to my own business, I’ve been using it lately to help me decide where I should be putting my focus.

The most recent intuitive nudge I had was to attend an Identity Reset summit. Since I work in inner transformation, I was curious to see what others had to say from their perspectives. I was able to experience a quantum breathwork ceremony led by Dr. Espen and was very surprised at just how deep it went.

I couldn’t stop thinking about it and looked Dr. Espen up. He had a 3-day paid Quantum Series class touching on mind, body, and soul. I pushed it into my “keep this in mind” file of my brain. Yet, as each week passed, I kept getting the nudge to look into the series. It felt like I needed to register, so I did.

Let’s just say, it couldn’t have been more perfect. I was exposed to more of his work and to my own inner shedding and transformation. It was phenomenal. His modality is based on breathwork. I use alternate nostril breathing quite often and know of other techniques, but it’s never really been on my radar until now.

Then came the programs that he’s offering. One is based on self-exploration, and the other is a practitioner training. After experiencing firsthand how powerful breathwork is, I was immediately drawn to the practitioner training. I was already envisioning how I could help more clients with this type of clearing work. But there were two things that were holding me back: the cost and the amount of time it would take up. It’s a 160-hour program that would push me way past my comfort zone.

I only had a few days to decide. I went round and round on it. My brain gave me very good reasons as to why it doesn’t make any sense whatsoever at this time. In fact, it would put me into a very uncomfortable position (with time and finances) due to other huge transitions I’ll be going through in the coming months.

The voice of reasoning kept telling me to not be foolish, yet my heart felt so happy every time I thought about the program. That got my attention. I took some time to tune in with my intuition. I looked at how I was feeling and where the feelings were coming from. I used muscle testing to help me tap into my intuition and gauge how beneficial the program would be for me and my mission to help others with inner transformation.

I decided to go for it. How it will turn out, I don’t know. How I will find the resources and make the time to dedicate to it, I don’t know. Under all of the concern and fear, I feel excitement. I’m choosing to trust that things will work out and that my intuition is guiding me down the right path.

puzzle pieces and one says intuition

Society teaches us to use reason and logic - to rely on our brain. I absolutely agree that logic has its place, but I also recognize that it's tainted by our preconceptions, our past experiences, our conditioning, our beliefs, and even by our fear.

All of the reasoning in the world can still keep us stuck in the forest. Our intuition, on the other hand, has the bird's-eye view. It's our internal guidance system - whether it's nudging us towards or away from something.

If you think of a jigsaw puzzle, the mind is able to make out some of the pieces and even connect them with a general idea of what it thinks the picture looks like. The soul actually knows what the picture is and uses intuition to help guide you to the next right piece.

The mind wants to keep you safe, whereas the soul wants you to step out of your comfort zone and grow. Your soul wants what's best for you, and it demands expansion, but your mind will keep you living and playing small. You’ll often see this in business when you avoid going on camera or selling your products or services.

Until you start really listening, the intuition is a quiet voice. Its nudges are often gentle and imperceivable unless you really pay attention. Though there are occasions where it will get loud enough to grab your attention, especially when it comes to danger.

Intuition can help you navigate life if you allow it, but what does that have to do with running your business? Your soul knows who you need to connect with to take you to the next level. It knows what you need to release in order to get out of your own way. It knows what projects are most aligned, and it knows where you can best share your gifts.

An Exercise to Help With Decision-Making

When it comes to making big decisions around your business, I encourage you to give both logic and intuition their place. Try the following exercise the next time you need to make an important decision.

  1. Create a two-column chart by drawing a horizontal line across the top of your paper and a vertical line down the middle so it looks like a T.

  2. Title the left column with the word LOGIC and then the right column with the word INTUITION.

  3. In the left-hand column write down all of your reasoning and the why behind it. You’re engaging the left side of your brain for this activity.

  4. On the right side, ask your heart/soul what it thinks and write down any feelings, thoughts, or images that come up. Be open and curious; some of it might not make sense in the moment.

  5. Now, go through each column and circle the words that jump out at you and feel right.

This exercise allows you to engage both sides of your brain, and it brings your heart into the decision-making process as well. Whether you think of it as your heart or your soul, that aspect connects with your intuition to help guide you.

The wonderful thing about your intuition is that it’s always looking out for you. It wants what’s best for you. It communicates what your soul wants and needs. Everyone has intuition, and with presence, awareness, and focus, everyone can connect with their intuition.

A Way to Tap Into Your Intuition

If you know how to muscle test, you can even check your intuitive hits. You can get an idea as to how beneficial a choice or decision is for your business. Muscle testing is applied kinesiology, where you’re using your physical body to see and feel your inner wisdom’s responses through muscle strength or weakness.

It’s actually easy to learn how to muscle test, though there is a correct way to do it and some parameters you’d need to be aware of. It’s a wonderful tool if you’re someone who struggles with second-guessing yourself. If you’re not familiar with muscle testing, I have a beginner’s training that will get you started. You can learn more about it here.

Following other people’s advice and strategies has helped me get to where I am, but it’s also taken me a lot longer to arrive. I didn’t apply my intuition as much; instead, I tried to keep up with the business trends. Now, I incorporate it into my decision-making.

I’ll leave you with a few questions to reflect on:

  1. When was the last time you used your intuition in business? What was the result of following it?

  2. How will you incorporate it into how you run your business moving forward?
